Our Story
How it started
Mr Cinema was created when the founders of Mr Smith uncovered a grey area in the Super and Mega Yacht market place. They quickly realised that once a client had purchased their new AV solution it really wasn’t very clear what film content they were legally licensed to have onboard. This was especially the case with Chartered and LLC owned Superyachts.
What we found
It became apparent that many so called ‘content providers’ supplying the yachting industry were not endorsed by the studios or their distribution partners. It was also clear that the content they provided was simply for residential home use rather than a commercial 'non-theatrical' agreement, which is especially important for charters or non-family usage in order to be legal and not infringing the copyrights of the rights holders.
The Mr. Smith connection
Mr Cinema is part of the Mr Smith group of companies. The Mr Smith team have a long history of being pioneers in bringing new advancements to the industry with over 60 taliored systems on SuperYachts worldwide. The team were keen to resolve this anomaly and bring legal, commercial up to the minute films and content to the industry with their mantra that it needs to be the best at a reasonable price.
The collaboration
After many years of research and endless conversations with content providers, major film studios and their distribution partners a solution was found. In partnership with our licensing distributor Filmbankmedia, Mr Cinema became a reality and is the only commercial solution dedicated to the SuperYacht Charter and LLC owned Yacht market.
We bring the yachting market a clear legal path forward so that new film releases, top classics and much much more can be enjoyed on Super and Mega Yachts.
